The National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Ayurvedic medicine. The programs are affiliated with Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurved University and are approved by the Ministry of AYUSH.
Courses Offered:
  • BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery): This is a 5.5-year undergraduate course.
  • MD (Master of Ayurveda): Several specializations are available, including Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine), Panchakarma, and Prasuti Stri Roga (Obstetrics and Gynecology).
  • PhD: Research-based programs in various Ayurvedic fields are offered.
  • Diploma in Ayurvedic Pharmacy: Aimed at providing foundational knowledge in Ayurvedic drug preparation and pharmacology​.
Admission Process:
  • BAMS: Admission is based on NEET UG scores, followed by counseling. Candidates must have completed their Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects.
  • MD (Postgraduate): Admission is through AIAPGET scores (All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test), followed by counseling​
  • PhD: A screening test and interview process are used to assess candidates​.
Fees:
  • BAMS Fees: For the first year, fees are approximately INR 42,025. Subsequent years have varying fees, with the third year costing around INR 38,500​
  • MD Fees: The first year costs INR 81,750, with subsequent years around INR 54,500.
Placements:
While specific placement data isn’t widely available, NIA Jaipur provides excellent training in Ayurvedic medicine, which leads to career opportunities in healthcare, teaching, and Ayurvedic research. Graduates often pursue careers as Ayurvedic practitioners, researchers, and specialists in various Ayurvedic institutions​.
